Glenwood Transit Line, Inc. is one of the best
examples of how a family corporation can be made to work and achieve success. The firm was
started in 1939 when Clarence Boles, Sr. and his wife Hazel purchased one straight truck
and hauled commercial freight from Omaha and delivered to areas in Southwest Iowa.
In 1959 Clarence Boles Jr. and his wife Helen joined the firm and over the years incorporated and expanded the business to include household moving.
In 1967 Clarence and Helen decided the firm would become a Mayflower agent. At this time a warehouse was built, and another was built in 1975 providing office space and 12,000 square feet of storage areas for household goods. The rewarding business relationship with Mayflfower has lasted more than 40 years.
Through the years many of the Boles family have been employed with Glenwood Transit Line,
Inc. Presently the general manager of the company is Lori Jens, granddaughter of Clarence
and Hazel. Lori started working in the Glenwood Transit Line office as a bookkeeper in
1975, and obtained experience packing and selling prior to her current position.
Loris children have worked as summer extras for the company, making them the fourth
generation to be involved in this family business. |
